Rats do not have a favorite diet, which is part of the secret of their success. (…). Research has shown, however, that if a multitude of foods are readily available, they will vary their diet to achieve nutritional balance (consider the balance available from a bag of restaurant refuse). Rodents need protein for growth and reproduction, carbs for energy, and they like sweets to round out their meals. Sound familiar?
